We know Cinderella as a hard-working girl who lives with her stepmother and her two daughters. One day she receives an invitation to the royal ball – the prince is looking for his future princess. The rest of the fairy tale should be familiar.
The dance production takes this plot and transfers it to the here and now. Adapted in a modern way, the cleaning maid Cinderella becomes an aspiring artist who is searching for her place in life in the hectic city. Her “Fairy Godmother” could be an enigmatic street artist who helps her on the way to realizing her dreams. The prince becomes an environmental activist, the royal ball night turns into a futuristic gala and the glass slipper becomes an It-Peace sneaker. The range of themes and motifs is colorful and diverse. Accordingly, the different styles merge in the dance theater: hip hop meets classical ballet, breakdance meets contemporary dance. The piece takes a look at digitality, technology, ecology and climate protection, fashion, life in the city, art and street art and questions our modern society.
