The Players tests the mechanisms of power and control in the form of a game. On seemingly sure ground, Edan Gorlicki tests the influence of social status, manipulation and human calculus. But playing a game is not always as harmless as it seems. Inspired by the fearsome yet appealing charisma of psychopaths, The Players explores the cruel but very effective power of manipulative strategies. Round after round, the players outperform each other in impressing, tricking and boasting and want to know time and time again: Are you ready to play?

In 2017, the production received the Dance and Theatre Award from the city of Stuttgart and the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg and was also awarded the Audience and Critics Awards.

A production by Edan Gorlicki in cooperation with the Choreographische Centrum Heidelberg and the Theater Felina-Areal. Supported by Kunstraad Groningen, Choreographisches Centrum Heidelberg, City of Mannheim, ESSER Stiftung and the State Association Freie Tanz- und Theaterschreifende Baden-Wuerttemberg e.V. with funds from the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
The guest play is supported by the NATIONALE PERFORMANCE NETZ guest play promotion Tanz, sponsored by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, as well as the Ministries of Culture and Arts of the Lenders.
