Lively, colorfully, and sensitively, this dance-based new production of the story of the famous children’s book author Carlo Collodis. To the surprise of woodcarver Gepetto, a wooden doll transforms into a little boy made of flesh and blood. The popular KIKA presenter Juri Tetzlaff leads the audience through the story, which tells of Pinocchio, who does not keep his promise to be nice, and thus finds himself in a series of dangers and adventures: so he gets distracted by a puppet theatre, tails the school, falls for a fox and a cat, meets a pigeon and a cricket. One day he meets a good fairy, which he praises better, but which he does not quite want to succeed. In the end, Pinocchio turns into a donkey, is finally pushed into the sea, where he is devoured by a whale and the story takes a happy turn to the relief of everyone …

Surprisingly and excitingly choreographed, the audience hit for the 2010 Festival shows itself in a new, radiant guise: 50 young dance talents from Tanztheater Erfurt, accompanied by professional dancers, perform for the first time together with the Children’s and Youth Choir of Erfurt Cathedral on the main stage of the Erfurt Theater and promise to inspire visitors of all generations with Pinocchio.
